Study of dockside chains
It often pays to look closely at the detail in a scene before you. The small port of Kirkcudbright in South West Scotland still has an active fishing trade with vessels coming and going on a daily basis. On the quay where the boats come in there is a wonderful collection of rusting nautical related odds and ends. These chains lay draped over a large metal shaft about the size of a telegraph pole. The image you see was converted to black and white and then toned using two different colours, one for the highlight, the other for the shadows.
