I took my life in my hands walking up this icy road one cold winter's morning.

The old cottage at the foot of the hill is in fact one of a pair. They were at one time attached to the Old Smithy which operated from the corner of the road just by them. One is now privately owned, the other still rented by the farmer who owns the fields on the other sided of the hedges.
