Motte of Urr
PreviousNext
Cutting the grass for silage is a key part of the working landscape of Dumfries and Galloway.
The recently cut grass drying in the evening sunshine leads the eye to the 'Motte of Urr.'
The Motte of Urr is one of the best preserved Motte and Bailey earthwork castles in Scotland and dates back to around 1100 AD
Location: Haugh of Urr, Dumfries and Galloway
