Update for XP with Zone Alarm blocks your Internet access...

Microsoft KB951748 is an update for Windows XP which you will be offered to install as a security update through windows update.

If installed it will modify certain networking settings to help make your PC more secure when connecting to the Internet.

However if you use ZoneAlarm as your firewall you may well find that following the installation of the update - you can not longer access the Internet.

If this is the case - you should uninstall the update by going to Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs. You should then have your Internet access back again.

You should NOT, as I read in one disscussion group on the Internet, turn off the ZoneAlarm firewall!

Longer term, you should keep a check on the ZoneAlarm web site for further news. One would hope that an update for the firewall will be released by ZoneAlarm which would then enable the Windows update to be re-installed.
