Windows Vista SP1 - Further Update
09/06/08
The Vista SP1 is officially availble via Windows update, BUT...If you don't see it in your update list this may be for a very good reason. An extract from the official Microsoft Blog goes like this:
1. You have not yet installed all the prerequisite packages you need for Windows Vista SP1.
2. You have a pre-release version of SP1 and need to uninstall it before installing SP1.
3. You already have it. To determine if you already have SP1 installed, Open the Start Menu, right click on Computer and left click on Properties.
4. SP1 has been released in 5 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, and Japanese. If you have any other language installed, SP1 will not yet be offered to you!
Windows Update will detect drivers on your PC that it knows may be problematic when updating to SP1 and will not offer the service pack until an update has been installed.
So whatever you do, I suggest you at least check with your manufacturer, have a look around the internet and - BACK UP YOUR DATA FIRST. Only then attempt installing SP1
